One of the most annoying thing about Mobile data usage is how quickly it gets finished even without doing much with the data you purchase.

Let's say you purchased 3GB of data which it's suppose to last for 1month but to your great surprise it got finished within 1 weak of usage and you keep wondering why, many ask questions like
 “How comes this my data always get to finish quickly, What have I downloaded with it that just consumed up my data? and so many other questions”.
How to effectively manage your mobile data usage
Well, the answers to the above questions are still unclear to so many people but you have to worry no more as there are some simple effective ways listed here on this post on how to Manage your data for it to at least last longer, be it Airtel, MTN, 9Mobile Or Glo.


Well, there are many users that are already familiar with this method but considering some of you guys that are still not familiar with it, can find this post helpful.

How to Manage your Data usage effectively for it to last longer

To say the fact no doubt. Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Play store and Snapchat are the major brain behind your Data consumption, this apps sucks data a lot, and here is how you can put them under control from app settings.

1. Facebook 

To Turn off Auto-play;
  • Go to your Facebook option icon (the three horizontal bars at the top right corner)
  • Click on App Settings (Under help & settings)
  • Click on AutoPlay
  • Select “Never autoplay Videos”

You can also Turn on the Data Saver
  • Navigate to the options icon,
  • Then go to settings & Privacy
  • Select Data Saver,Toggle the data saver on

2. WhatsApp

To do this on WhatsApp you need to Deactivate Auto Download;
  • Go to the “settings” section in your WhatsApp APP
  • Click on “Data and Storage Usage”
  • Select Media Auto Download option
  • Deselect all options under “When Using Mobile Data”
You can also enable low data usage for WhatsApp Calls

3. Twitter 

To Deactivate Auto Play which also contributes in data consumption;
  • Go to your Twitter Profile icon.
  • Click on Settings and Privacy
  • Select Data Usage
  • Set “Video Autoplay” to Never

4. Instagram

To use less Data on Instagram;
  • Open Instagram options
  • Go to Settings
  • Select Cellular Data Use
  • Then tick “Use Less Data”

5. YouTube

To limit mobile data usage;
  • Open the YouTube App
  • Tap on the profile icon at the top right corner
  • Select Settings
  • Click on General
  • Turn on “Limit Mobile Data Usage”

6. PlayStore

Update Apps only on Wi-Fi
  • Go to the Google Play store
  • Click on Menu
  • Go to Settings
  • Click on Auto-update apps.
  • Select “Do not auto-update apps“

7. SnapChat

  • Go to Snapchat Settings
  • Click on “Manage” under “Additional Services”
  • Tick the “Travel Mode” box
